    It is a pivotal time in our transformational pursuit to help more people learn, measure their progress, and improve their navigation through life’s transitions.  Shifts in education and the workplace are accelerating the pace of change, and this position will play a critical role in leading ACT’s domestic and international measurement businesses including the ACT, ACT Aspire and Workkeys. Outcomes and key results include further strengthening ACT’s domestic and international competitive advantage, expanding the voice of the customer, diversifying ACT’s measurement product portfolio, and leading the digital transformation of our products and services. 

     

     Location: This position will be located at ACT, Inc. headquarters in Iowa City, Iowa.

    Responsibilities

    Typical work-related activities include:

    • Create customer loyalty and embody the ACT brand and values as both a leader and ambassador of ACT to our customers, partners, the industry, markets we serve and internal team members
    • Provide overall leadership, strategic direction and flawless execution of our go-to-market strategies and commercial plan to continue growth and profitability of the Measurement business unit domestically and internationally
    • Work in close collaboration with senior executives, partners, and internal cross-functional teams in the development and execution of integration plans to optimize the value chain using AGILE methods
    • Actively explore new and existing market opportunities in partnership with Strategy Marketing and Corporate Development/Strategy
    • Partner with ACT’s Center for Equity in Learning to develop and execute on initiatives that materially impact underserved populations and serve our mission
    • Facilitate the product development of commercially viable innovations in partnership with ACTNext
    • Lead, coach, manage and mentor teams dedicated to measurement who oversee client relations, sales, product management, policy and government relations, state and district partnerships, sales operations, and international business development
    • Attain revenue goals for the measurement products and services while creating operational efficiencies and automations that benefit customers

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field required, preferably in education or business administration
    • Master’s degree and/or MBA preferred
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired

     Experience:

    • A minimum of 10 years of progressive management responsibility with at least 7 years in a senior level leadership position
    • 5+ years of broad strategic financial / P&L leadership experience
    • Recognized thought leader in measurement and assessment
    • Product lifecycle including conceptualization, user experience, agile development, business development and operations
    • Experience in K-12 education industry
    • B2G experience including state and district sales leadership
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful commercialization strategies
    • Education Technology and/or experience with a rapidly scaling business is a plus
    • International business leadership experience considered a preference
    • Previous experience and demonstrated success leading, managing, and building teams required

    • Skilled in strategic planning, execution, and change management
    • Ability to manage complex, multi-functional teams (direct and matrix)
    • Powerful written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
    • Adept at developing collaborative relationships to accelerate internal and external alignment
    • Familiarity with all phases of an acquisition process
    • Ability to work well under pressure and follow through on items to completion while maintaining a professional demeanor
    • Able to build and sustain strong relationships at multiple levels internally and with partners; high emotional intelligence and an ability to challenge in a nuanced way. Influencing areas of the business that are not under direct control will be critical.
    • Build, motivate and inspire an integration team that tracks works closely with leaders to successfully plan and execute on integration milestones.
    • Ensure and manage effective communications to all stakeholders, executive leadership, and Board of Directors
    • Outstanding sales, product management, and business development skills
    • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
