    Responsibilities

    General summary: The Workshop Coordinator supports the Event Planner, as directed, to deliver quality ACT College and Career Readiness Workshops.

     

    Job Duration: Training would begin mid-August. Requires approximately 20 hours per week at the ACT Corporate Office in Iowa City. This position would end in mid-November. Pay is $16 per hourThe intern should be able to dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to work between the hours of 8:00 am - 6:00 pm CST Monday through Friday. The exact work hours are somewhat flexible to accommodate class schedules. The internship will end on Friday, November 15, 2019.

     

     

    Essential job functions:

    1. Coordinate ACT College and Career Readiness Workshops. Workshops duration is from September 9, 2019 – November 15, 2019.
    2. Communicate effectively with internal staff and event site contact to coordinate workshop details.
    3. Organize attendee registration site within salesforce. Maintain accuracy of salesforce database.  
    4. Coordinate workshop catering, setup, AV and logistical information.
    5. Order and ship materials to workshop ship – track shipment.
    6. Produce on-site registration sheets for each workshop.
    7. Review event bills for accuracy and approve payment.
    8. Ensure participant attendance is recorded.
    9. Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in making work-related decisions.

    Qualifications

    Education and experience:  Working towards a degree or certification in event planning or communications.

     

    Knowledge, skills and abilities:

    Demonstrate competence in:

    1. Strong listening, speaking and writing skills.
    2. Strong relationship skills.
    3. Detail oriented.
    4. Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative and ability to meet tight deadlines.
    5. Skilled in using computers, devices and software including word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) – preference for salesforce.com (will train).
    6. Ability to determine logical solutions to complicated problems.
    7. Highly organized and able to manage multiple, simultaneous workshops.
