    Responsibilities

    The Compensation and Benefits Manager manages and supports the development, implementation and ongoing operation of programs in the areas of compensation, benefits, and recognition/rewards. Through innovative program design and execution, this position ensures that programs are competitive, compliant, and equitable and aligned to ACT’s business strategy.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Manage and administer all compensation and benefit programs, including:

    • Manage all benefit programs and plans including health, retirement, well-being and leave programs.
    • Maintain ACT’s compensation structure and ensure pay practices are competitive and in line with ACT’s total rewards philosophy.
    • Manage the annual benefits enrollment and communication process.
    • Ensure all benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies as well as all federal and state regulations.
    • Manage worker’s compensation program, retirement plan administration, COBRA administration and leave administration with third party providers
    • Collaborate with benefit vendors to resolve issues
    • Administer incentive programs including tracking, calculation of incentive payouts and reporting.
    • Collaborate with talent business partners, recruiters and managers to provide compensation analysis and inform decisions for new hires, promotions and salary adjustments.
    • Create and review job descriptions to ensure compliance and alignment to pay structures.
    • Develop and maintain team member communication materials related to all programs.

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree required in a related area; preferably in business administration
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired 

    Experience:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a variety of employee benefit programs and plans
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing or administering employee compensation programs
    • Experience using human resources information systems to manage benefit programs, i.e. enrollment, required.
    • Broad-based human resources experience preferred. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Advanced MS Excel skills along with other MS Office programs
    • Knowledge of HR principles and procedures.
    • Excellent analytical skills & collaborative problem solving required.
    • Effective project management skills required; ability to work independently to meet deadlines and prioritize work.
    • Knowledge of compensation structures, job grading and job slotting, HR policy, and reporting requirements
    • Strong working knowledge of benefit regulations, market trends, and program design including working knowledge of legislation affecting compensation and benefit programs such as ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, IRS regulations, Section 125, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA and other applicable federal and state tax laws and regulations.
    • Business and financial acumen including deep understanding of tax, legal, accounting, and regulatory issues related to benefits.
    • Ability to understand, evaluate, and make recommendations on policy, procedures or practices related to compensation and benefit plans.
    • Ability to research and work through complex problems, analyze options and design effective solutions.
    • Clear understanding of employment laws and regulatory systems and requirements.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively to persons at all levels of the organization.
    • Comfortable working independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and with changing priorities.
    • Customer focused, keeping customer experience and value in mind at all times.
    • Proficiency in Human Resource Information Systems and Human Capital Management systems.
