    Responsibilities

    The Senior BI Developer is responsible for development, design and maintenance of IT solutions to support the Data Engineering Solutions Teams. The Senior BI Developer works within a team to independently design, develop, analyze, test, and implement business intelligence (BI), analytics, and enterprise reporting solutions. 

    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Typical work-related activities include:

     

    • Independently design, maintain, and enhance applications capitalizing on existing frameworks and reusable components.
    • Develop and implement business intelligence and analytics solutions, including: static/dynamic dashboards, and interactive reports, charts, and graphs based on customer needs and inputs.
    • Actively participate in design/architectural discussions, grooming user stories, sprint demos, and daily Scrums, to help establish a Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) approach, sometimes leading these activities.
    • Act as a resource for and support junior team members by proactively anticipating and resolving or helping team members resolve issues across Scrum teams.
    • Work as part of a distributed agile team that that ships production code every other week.
    • Provide assistance to other business intelligence developers and business users by accessing their needs and mapping those needs to appropriate back-end solution architectures (i.e. OLTP/transactional databases, data marts, data warehouses, local data sources, etc.).
    • Participate in and sometimes leads the Agile process and ensures product quality, robustness, scalability and consistency.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical discipline required;
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

     

    Experience:

    • Minimum of five years progressive IT experience
    • Two years of development experience with Enterprise Reporting Solutions/Data Visualization tools such as Tableau, SAS, R, Oracle Reports, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) suite of applications.
    • Two years of experience with Zeppelin, Python, Java Development, or API development required
    • Two years of experience working with databases such as MongoDB, MySQL and/or Oracle required
    • Enterprise reporting experience
    • Development experience with Java or Python
    • Experience with Big Data and No SQL technologies such as Mongo DB or Hadoop desired

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Required:

    • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively
    • Demonstrated ability to support, mentor, coach and advise other team members
    • Ability to work as part of a Scrum team, following SAFe Agile practices
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize individual work load, troubleshoot, and remedy problems under pressure
    • Demonstrated relational and no SQL database skills (MongoDB, MySQL and/or Oracle)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Results-oriented and able to work across the organization
    • Comfortable working in a rapidly transforming and fast-paced organization

    Preferred:

    • Knowledge of project tracking software like Jira
    • Understanding of performance testing frameworks such as Jmeter and Blazemeter
    • Understanding of production monitoring solutions such as NewRelic, Splunk, Tivoli, App Dynamics, SCOM and synthetic transaction scripting
    • Knowledge of version control such as Git / Bitbucket
