    The Lead Business Strategist will be a key advisor and facilitator of new business development and strategic growth opportunities for ACTNext, ACT’s innovations hub.  As a member of ACTNext’s leadership team, the Lead Business Strategist is accountable for the department’s business partnerships, investor relationships, business relationship processes and results.  The Lead Business Strategist is also accountable for proposal and bid execution oversight. 



    • Advise ACTNext leadership on potential considerations both from the strategic and financial angles during projects
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of potential partners and investors
    • Compare and evaluate different means to implement opportunities, and make implementation recommendations to ACTNext leadership
    • Conduct market analyses to understand business model trends, customer needs and innovations
    • Create framework to analyze and assess opportunities based on fit with ACTNext and ACT strategy
    • Develop business strategy for ACTNext prototypes/ideas while aligning with ACT strategy
    • Develop growth and optimization strategy across the different ACTNext functional teams
    • Engage potential partner companies of interest, track interactions and progress
    • Establish and sustain investor relationships to continuously foster opportunities for incubating ideas/products
    • Establish business development protocols, processes and best practices
    • Identify business development opportunities through both organic and inorganic means
    • Identify market opportunities and advice ACTNext leadership and scientists in new research prototype development
    • Liaise with ACT Product Group, Corporate Development and other ACT departments to identify ACTNext go-to-market opportunities
    • Monitor the business environment through various strategic analysis techniques
    • Oversee the execution of proposals and bids
    • Perform analyses on industry landscape (e.g., market size, key and emerging players, customers, trends and opportunities)
    • Prepare business cases, obtain stakeholder buy-in and develop go-to-market plan for new products
    • Provide competitive updates from the field, including the business development activity and strategy of competitors, their pricing and approaches



    • Bachelor’s degree required.  Business or related area preferred
    • MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred



    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in partner management, business operations and/or business development in education technology or education assessment required
    • Experience with startup organizations preferred

    • Familiarity and experience with a wide range of investor relationships (e.g., venture capital, philanthropy, federal funding sources, private foundations, and startups)

    • Strong networking skills, and significant visibility within the edtech or education industry
    • Strong understanding of edtech customer segmentation and targeting
