    The Editor/Designer Intern will manage the production and technical quality of designated high-priority projects, as well as provide editorial and creative design services for large-scale, multifaceted projects.  The intern will be required to work 15-20 hours per week.

    Typical work-related activities include:

    • Complete editing, proofreading, quality control, and proof review of technical research reports
    • Review existing and soon-to-be-published research publications and create smaller pieces of work for broader dissemination or audience targeting
    • Write articles, briefs, blog posts, social media posts, etc.
    • Maintain understanding of the conventions of technical editing
    • Assist in the design and development of research publications and collateral (including reports, briefs, brochures, flyers, social media posts, etc.)
    • Collaborate with teams such as print design, social media, web design, motion graphics, and email marketing to develop digital creative assets including documents, social media layouts, infographics, and animated videos.
    • Work with a wide range of media and graphic design software tools such as Word, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Biteable, etc.
    • Manage print and online documents and have skills to edit and proofread in both environments
    • Examine final products for accuracy, consistency, and quality
    • Maintain consistent standards of style and format and adhere to corporate brand guidelines
    • Execute special projects and serve on project teams as assigned
    • Complete library functions as assigned
    • Communicate effectively and efficiently with staff and clients




    Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program (preferably in English, Journalism, or Graphic Design)


    • Experience in managing and organizing work
    • Capable of determining logical solutions to complicated problems;
    • Exhibit a superior ability to read and interpret written material including the recognition of technical terms and jargon
    • Able to set specific goals and priorities
    • Ability to manage stress effectively
    • Ability to communicate with other ACT personnel through strong, organized writing and verbal skills
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding corporate information
    • Knowledge of and experience with WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines and treatment
