    Responsibilities

    This position could be based remotely in the state of Iowa with travel as needed to our Iowa City office.

     

    The Software Engineer II is responsible for development, design and maintenance of ETL solutions for data warehouses/data marts along with the creation and documentation of various web services and big data technology solutions in support of the movement, storage and consumption of data. This position will be on a collaborative team that governs and oversees the use of Informatica tools for internal and external developers.

    Typical work-related activities include:                                                                      

    • Conducting quality review of design documents and proposed Informatica solutions prepared by others
    • Maintenance, enhancements, and support of existing software systems under limited supervision of more experienced staff
    • Participation in the development of new software solutions
    • Following and applying published standards for SDLC
    • Collaboration with IT staff and business partners.
    • Review of and feedback on consultant’s designs

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferably in Computer Science
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

     Experience:

    • Minimum of three years of progressive IT experience
    • Two years of software development experience required, preferably with one or more of the following:
      • Java
      • Apache Nifi
      • Kafka
      • Informatica PowerCenter
    • Two years of Data Warehouse or Big Data experience required

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Required:

    • Strong understanding of Java or Python
    • Strong understanding of RESTful API’s
    • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize individual work load, troubleshoot, and remedy problems under pressure
    • Demonstrated relational and no-SQL database skills (MongoDB, MySQL and/or Oracle)
    • Ability to work as part of a Scrum team
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Results-oriented and able to work across the organization
    • Comfortable working in a rapidly transforming organization

     

    Preferred:

    • Knowledge of Informatica PowerCenter and its client tools
    • Knowledge of version control such as Git / Bitbucket
    • Knowledge of project tacking software like Jira
    • Knowledge of test automation frameworks such as Robot
    • Understanding of performance testing frameworks such as Jmeter and Blazemeter
    • Understanding of static code analysis tools such as SonarQube, HPFortify, Crucible
    • Understanding of production monitoring solutions such as NewRelic, Tivoli, App Dynamics, SCOM and synthetic transaction scripting
