    The Director, Software Development will develop, implement and maintain the strategic direction for the data application and analytics development function related to ACT’s robust assessment and research data systems. This includes leading the application development team and managing vendors responsible for developing, implementing and managing the systems.   This position will work closely with the platform service owner and business partners in understanding the business needs so the systems align with the business strategy.

    Typical work-related activities include:

    • Drive the coordination of multiple vendors and their products into a cohesive delivery experience for ACT’s customers
    • Develop, track and implement adjustments based on measures related to timely support and quality control of programs and services
    • Responsible for ensuring the successful planning of assessment volumes, assessment execution and ensuring the successfully delivery of our assessments across broad delivery partners.  
    • Communicate with internal leaders, team members and external customers
    • Engage frequently with service owner/business leaders on planning, strategy, roadmaps and designs, and keep senior management and other stakeholders informed of project status and schedules
    • Manage the development team by providing direction, guidance and leadership and encourage continuous learning
    • Lead the transition from data integration tools such as Informatica, Oracle database, OBIEE to data integration open source tools in Hortonworks Data Platform, Kafka, Storm, Kubernetes, Cloudbreak, & Mongo




    • Bachelor’s degree in a related area required; preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Information Systems
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.


    • A minimum of 7 years of related experience, including experience in contemporary data warehousing, DevOps, Data Integration and Analytics
    • Previous experience and demonstrated success leading, managing and building teams required
    • Experience in assessment delivery preferred


    • Understanding of IMS standards is preferred
    • Strong vendor management skills
    • Proven cross-group collaboration and strong communication skills
    • Ability to lead and develop others working as part of a high performing team
    • Demonstrated ability to influence professionally and at all levels across organization
    • Ability to develop fresh approaches and innovative solutions
    • Ability to provide strategic leadership, ensuring that the vision and mission is advanced
