Responsibilities

The ACT Scholar intern will serve as a Community Engagement Intern and gain experience in one or more of the following areas:, Internal/External networking, Content Analysis, Co-Branding initiatives and Social and Economic Impact analysis.

 

Typical work-related activities included but not limited to the following:

  • Create effective draft materials drawn from multiple sources for use in our annual Conditions of College and Career Readiness reports.
  • Organize, analyze, synthesize and categorize information from multiple sources in order to identify and describe effective practices/best practices to improve education and workplace success for underserved learners.
  • Assist in the coordination and development of special strategic programs including but not limited to; MLK Annual Event, Black Greek Devine 9 student initiative and Corporate Volunteer activities.
  • Brainstorm and develop strategic written material to describe the mission, role and impact of The Center for Equity in Learning to various ACT internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Research, Brand Experience, Talent Strategy and various ACT colleagues to improve personal development initiatives along with supporting material targeted towards underserved learners and organizations that guide, mentor and/or advocate for underserved learners.
  • Create presentation materials and PowerPoint slides to present information about various Underserved Learner projects.
  • In consultation with internal colleagues and external contacts, develop a strategy to identify and gather relevant data from various states targeting demographic information to be used for strategy planning.
  • Assist in the coordination of efforts that reflect the diverse human experience and that are appropriate for potential inclusion in ACT test materials.
  • Shadow internal staff to grasp ACT objectives and confirm and/or clarify open tasks for follow up.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the successful completion of various projects and events.
  • Define and keep timeline to complete documentation of all processes for future use serving USL students
  • Assist in the planning and continual development of our volunteer services program along with aiding in the tracking and measuring of our social impact data.
  • Provide visual project status updates to responsible staff.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding corporate and department information.

Qualifications

Education:  Master’s degree in English, Social Sciences, Education or Communications. PhD. candidate preferred but not required

 

 

Experience:  Experience in higher education, research and/or multicultural affairs activity is preferred.

  • Applicants must possess a driving passion to work with a continuum of stakeholders to support low-income, first generation, ELL/recent immigration, Hispanic/Latino, African American/Black, Asian American & Pacific Islander, American Indian, Alaska Native & Native Hawaiian, “at risk”/off-track for college and career readiness, special needs, and veterans who are striving to gain competencies to raise their trajectory of life and career success.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including, strong written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities across multiple projects are required.
