    Responsibilities

    The Senior Project Manager plays a key role on the ACTNext team using strong project management expertise to drive technical readiness in the execution of cross-functional, complex technology projects from design to release/launch in an Agile environment. 

    • Establishes, tracks and executes the project schedule, delivering projects on-time and within budget, scope planning, risk management and mitigation
    • Manages project teams, resource allocation and quality management
    • Defines roles and responsibilities of project team and acquires project resources
    • Proactively follows up with others to ensure commitments are on track and stay on track; works with project team resources to make sure the appropriate approval on deliverables is obtained
    • Create, track and manage project schedules; recognize potential slippage and new dependencies; work with project team to make schedule corrections.
    • Communicate project status and direction to Project Sponsor and Owner and project team as appropriate
    • Keeping and distributing meeting minutes and status reports
    • Keeps stakeholders proactively informed/consulted with prior to sharing information
    • Provides factual representations of project issues, packages the news with next steps, remediation plans, specific support requests of leaders, and appropriate knowledge of the issue to be able to answer predicted questions
    • Completion of planning and obtaining commitment to the work

    Qualifications

     

    Education:   

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related area required; preferably in a technology area
    • PMP Certification preferred
    • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

     Experience:

    • A minimum of 5 years of project management related experience with a minimum of two years working in an Agile environment required.
    • Current experience managing research and technology projects through all phases required.
    • Knowledge and experience managing project using Agile methodology is required.
    • Experience working on federal grants and contracts is a plus.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficient in Agile project management tools such as JIRA, Asana, Trello etc.
    • Strong listening as well as effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and action-biased problem solving abilities
    • Strong facilitation abilities
    • Knowledge of LEAN methodology
    • Ability to create and proactively manage an accurate project budget and proficiency in use of budget and program management tools
    • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
    • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
    • Ability to recognize, manage and mitigate risks; find resolutions and make sure appropriate escalation paths are taken and solutions executed
    • Strong ability to manage change and adversity
    • Ability to lead small and medium size teams
    • Must be able to build effective teams; proactively handle conflict; handle difficult situations and people
    • Strong relationship management skills are critical
    • Proficiency in use of budget and program management tools
