The Program Director, Business Development role will be part of a sales team that identifies and captures sales opportunities for ACT Consulting Services with a focus on assessment engineering services. This role leads the comprehensive leadership, management, and sales activities in assessment services by representing ACT’s technical services to partners, customers, and users leading to growth in consulting sales.


Typical work-related activities include:

    • Prepares, maintains, and executes sales plans to ensure those plans reflect the priorities established in the business strategy.
    • Personally sells ACT’s solutions and develops relationships with foundations; national, state, and local government organizations; assessment organizations; education associations; and industry organizations.
    • Drives effective pipeline building and management, targeting opportunities of sufficient size, scope, and complexity to meet revenue goals.
    • Develops strong sales database management and communications with prospects through the ACT sales process.
    • Participates in and supports the sales infrastructure to track and monitor sales and marketing efforts.
    • Maintains competitive awareness and consistently provides competitive updates from the field, including the business development activity and strategy of competitors, their pricing and approaches.
    • Collaborates with the Senior Director Consulting Services to develop vision, strategy, and approach for Consulting Services based upon customer, and ACT stakeholder feedback.
  • Manages special projects as assigned by the Senior Director


  • Maintain an in-depth level of knowledge of ACT’s education and workforce programs and services



  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area required; preferably in business; master’s degree preferred
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.



  • A minimum of seven years' experience in the educational assessment area
  • Direct and indirect selling, evangelizing, and influencing experience with a proven successful track record
  • Experience with people management preferred
