Responsibilities

Under the direction of senior staff, the Psychometrician i or II will conduct psychometric/statistical analyses and research for ACT products and services.

 

Typical work-related activities include:

  • Conduct, interpret, and present the results of scaling, equating, calibration, and other psychometric and statistical procedures and research
  • Provide consulting support to internal and external clients
  • Prepare technical and/or interpretive materials for programs
  • Acquire additional knowledge and skills in psychometric and statistical methodology for measurement research
  • Develop a program of research, publication, and presentations at professional conferences on issues affecting ACT’s business
  • Maintain quality and security control on all projects

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION: 

  Doctorate degree required in educational measurement, psychometrics, or a related content area

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • For Psychometrician I - Minimum two years of experience in a testing, measurement, or research environment (experience in computerized adaptive testing or cognitive diagnostic modeling preferred)
  • For Psychometrician II - Minimum three years of related post-doctorate experiences required
  • Demonstrated professional achievement through presentations at professional conferences or publications

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Self-motivated and self-driven
  • Advanced knowledge of psychometrics and statistics (knowledge with Bayesian statistics preferred)
  • Knowledge of data analytics
  • Solid computer programming skills in R, SAS, Python, or Java and IRT software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to determine logical solutions to complicated problems
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams
  • Ability to adapt to a fast changing environment
